Garden Shed Plans Give You Just What You Need

By admin | October 9, 2009

When I bought the garden shed plans for my new shed I quickly realised that I could build it just the way I wanted. The problem I have with off the shelf sheds is that they are not adaptable to your needs in the way your home made shed is.

Most people have in their mind how they are going to use their shed. For some it is just storage for garden and household tools. For others like me , we want to work in the shed. So we need some sort of work area and probably power for your power tools.

What you can do with garden shed plans in front of your is really check out the detail of where everything is going to go. Some woodworking tools such as turning lathes need a long narrow clear space. This needs to be allowed for. I have a friend who had to cut a hole into his shed wall for bits of wood to stick out of. He just didn’t look at how much room he really needed in his shed.

The other thing to do at the planning stage is create a wish list of what you can do with your shed and see if any of these are easy to accomodate with your current plans. My neighbour has 3 small sheds which is the way he likes it. I would rather havbe one large space that will be more flexible and multi-purpose.

The other activity I am doing at the moment is laying out some bricks to the outline of where I am going to put it. I know that I find it hard to visualise the space without seeing it in front of me. As it happens I think I have got it about right. At least I can be confident as I set out the permanent base.
